10 cooking life hacks you wish you knew sooner

These quick, easy and inventive hacks will definitely change your life for the better:

1- Get your eggs to room temperature fast! If you forget to take your eggs out of the fridge in time, don’t worry. Just place them in a bowl of warm water for a few minutes, and voila!

2- For fresher herbs, try this little kitchen hack: place them in ice cube trays with water and a little oil and freeze them afterwards so that they do not dehydrate.

3- For garlic and herb-infused breadcrumbs that will make your taste buds tingle, toast the crumbs in a pan with a bit of oil and chopped garlic and herbs. Then use those delectable breadcrumbs to cook up something special, from chicken cutlets to meatballs.

4- Use a microplane or a cheese grater to melt butter – it almost instantly thaws!

5- Although it may sound strange, but adding a dash of salt to your desserts like brownies and cakes actually makes them sweeter, and at the same time, you avoid the risk of serving them too sweet.

6- It is generally known to soak nuts or seeds before roasting for softening the shells and getting them crunchy. Instead, try soaking in tea for that added goodness.

7- Did you know: microwaving lemons for just 20 seconds makes them much easier to squeeze, and you’d even squeeze out more juice this way!

8- Cook mushrooms in a dry pan for a few minutes instead of directly using olive oil or butter. They brown better this way and you’ll get much of the moisture out!

9- What’s very effective in avoiding using too much liquid when making soup is adding some mashed potatoes as a thickener to the mix.

10- An extra egg yolk when making any sort of cookie always makes it fluffier, even after resting in the fridge for a few days.
